Why use a BiobiN?
Biobin provides
the clean, green, socially responsible, organic waste solution that society is
now demanding, and which helps the environment.
What is the running cost of a BiobiN?
BiobiNs plug into a standard single phase
power point. Their low power consumption and cyclic operation combine to keep
the cost of operation to around 50 cents per day.
How much waste can be processed in a BiobiN?
Depending on how
quickly the material is added and the speed of decomposition, it is possible to
process much more than the nominal volume of the bin within a pickup cycle. This
is because the material takes up less volume as the composting process advances.
Our staff will assist in the selection of the correct size of bin for your
application to ensure optimal processing efficiency.
Can liquid material (sludge,
watery foodstuff) be processed in a BiobiN?
Liquid waste needs
to be mixed with other organic and carbonous materials to be effectively
processed in the BiobiN. Although moisture is important in the composting
process, liquids themselves will not generally compost. A mixture of cardboard,
paper, woodchips and/or sawdust needs to be mixed with the liquid sludge to
provide the carbon for the composting process. Biobins are not designed for
liquid containment and transportation, thus a maximum liquid content of 5% is
recommended.
How much green material should
be used in a BiobiN?
Green waste can be
placed in the BiobiN and blended with other organic and carbonous waste. Tree
branches should be smaller than 1 metre in length and less than a 10c piece in
cross section.
What happens if
Non-Biodegradable waste is put into a BiobiN?
Most organics
recycling plants (where the waste goes after being pre-processed in a BiobiN)
sort their input materials, and are therefore proactive in their feedback about
the calibre of the the waste coming from the BiobiN. If contamination (plastics,
glass, etc) become a common occurrence and/or represent an unacceptable
proportion of the waste, the contamination fees may apply. BiobiN, our partners
and customers are driving towards the same goal, which is to recycle and help
the environment. Subsequently we prefer to focus on working together to fix the
problem rather than placing the penalty.
How big are BiobiNs?
Currently the two
standard sizes are the 9 metre and 4 metre bins. The specifications for these
can be found on our Design page. Other BiobiN's can be made to order and we are
currently developing application specific BiobiNs for confined spaces, rear of
restaurants, small schools etc. |
